Premium aged care communities that make you feel right at home
12 December 2017
We would like to welcome our Care Manager, Lisa, to the HillView community. Her 30 years of nursing experience is complimented by such a caring demeanor, making her a huge asset to our team and our residents.
Lisa started her nursing career straight out of school at age 17. This was hospital based training, and she completed 3 years at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in 1988. She then moved to the Gold Coast and started her first job as a Registered Nurse at Pindara Hospital where she remained for the next 14 years. During this time while working in the acute medical ward she became interested in caring for people with dementia. She seemed to be able to communicate well with these people and enjoyed the challenges of caring for them. This led to working full time in aged care/dementia care in 2002.
As a registered nurse working on the floor until 2006, she gained extensive experience in this role which further expanded her knowledge of dementia and the ageing process. Following this she spent a few years in different roles, as a practice nurse for two GP groups and then for a plastic surgeon before coming back to aged care again in 2010. This time she was in a senior role as an ACFI Coordinator across two facilities, which also involved her stepping into the Care Manager role on a regular basis. In 2015 she became a full time Care Manager before coming to HillView in July 2017.
A word from Lisa
I would like to thank everyone who has made me feel so welcome since I started at HillView and a Special thanks to all care staff for being so supportive and welcoming.
It has been fantastic to meet so many residents, families and staff. For those families I haven’t been able to meet yet, I would encourage you to pop in to my office or send me an email if there is anything I can help you with related to the care of your loved one.
I truly believe HillView is an excellent home for our residents, and this is due to the dedicated and caring staff we have.
Although challenging at times, I really enjoy the variety in this role and most importantly I feel like I can be a positive influence for residents and staff.
HillView is already a well-respected name in aged care on the Gold Coast, which gives us/me a great platform to build on for the future. We are fortunate to have wonderful caring staff and are privileged to provide care and support to our residents every day. As a management team we strive to exceed expectations and look forward to serving our residents and the wider community.
I would like to wish all residents, staff and their families a wonderful and happy Christmas, and a very happy start to the new year.
