Grateful to our HillView family
3 March 2019
Our family would like to thank all of you at HillView and especially those who were involved in Dad’s care over the last 18 months since he became a resident. From the very first day he arrived in your care, first in respite and then as a resident, he was so wonderfully looked after. Dad arrived at HillView from hospital recovering from a chest infection, very weak and worried about his future. As a family we wanted Dad to make HillView his home but this had to be his decision. The care Scott and the nursing team gave him was wonderful and it was easy for Dad to see that this is where he needed to be. He regarded Scott as a personal friend and enjoyed all their ‘man to man’ chats.
Dad thoroughly enjoyed his days here and even though he didn’t participate in any of the group activities he loved being fussed over by all the Nursing staff, particularly Maritas, Chikako and Claudine, who he considered as friends. Everybody who entered his room came in with a big smile on their faces and a wonderful caring positive attitude. The nursing staff were all wonderful and listened to his every concern and did not dismiss his needs as being typical of the elderly, they reassured him and made him feel cared for. Dad always went to Scott and Sue for reassurance and they were so caring and kind in their treatment of him as were all your nursing staff including Sharon and Donna who were always there for him and particularly in his last days.
When Dad was recently taken to hospital all he wanted to do was to go home and was relieved to be back in his room with his HillView family around him – he was so pleased to see the familiar smiling faces. As a family we too were looked after by your caring staff as they helped us through this difficult time and kept us informed of what was happening to Dad in a loving and caring way. From the day we first spoke with Bianca in admin to our meeting with Jo to discuss Dad’s admittance and then to the very last day of his life, all of your team members have been so professional, warm, kind, and caring and we are so thankful.
We would be grateful if this letter could be copied to the owner of HillView so that they are aware of our gratitude to you all and to know we consider that you all gave so much more of yourselves in your care for our Dad than any employer, or ourselves, could ask.
