Flu vaccine for HillView Care staff and visitors
6 June 2018
Here at HillView the safety of our residents is of utmost importance. This is why we recommend that everyone who visits our HillView community get the influenza vaccination this year. Being vaccinated will minimise the risk for all of our residents. In addition any other friends/relatives who may visit HillView are also encouraged to have the flu vaccine.
Influenza can be prevented, or the severity of the illness reduced. Immunising with the current vaccine each year. Furthermore it is recommended that all residents in long term health care, people who visit them and health care staff receive the annual influenza vaccination. This will minimise the risk of infection to themselves and others. Here at HillView we have a compulsory flu vaccination program meaning all of our staff are vaccinated against the flu.
If you are feeling unwell it is strongly recommended that you see your doctor immediately and do not visit a resident of a long term care facility. Furthermore if you have been in contact with people with influenza-like symptoms. Additionally if you have three or more of the following symptoms:
Signs of Influenza include rapid onset of
- Muscle and joint pain
- Sore throat
- Stuffy/runny nose
